Spanish Companies Lead Technical Sessions
at APTA 2009 Rail Conference
Three Spanish companies will be among the many rail innovators leading technical sessions at the American Public Transportation Association (APTA) 2009 Rail Conference, taking place at the Hilton Chicago hotel, June 14 -19. ADIF, a rail infrastructure company and Prointec, an engineering firm, will present sessions focusing on high-speed rail in Europe and Asia, and CAF, a train manufacturer, will present updates regarding their latest streetcar projects, on Wednesday, June 17. Telvent, a telecommunications firm, will sponsor and moderate a session regarding fare collection technology on Tuesday, June 16.
Also participating in the conference are train manufacturers, Talgo and Vossloh España, as well as infrastructure management company, OHL.
According to APTA, the conference has been designed as a learning and networking experience. It will include technical sessions about the operation, management and maintenance of rail and fixed guideway systems, in addition to panels about the current developments and trends in the rail transit industry.
Coinciding with the APTA conference, the Hispanic American Construction Industry Association (HACIA) will host a High Speed Railway Symposium on Tuesday, June 15 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the University Club in Chicago. The event will be chaired by Senator Richard J. Durbin. José Luis Briceño, Director of the Department of Manufacturing and Technology at the Trade Commission of Spain will participate in a presentation regarding the Spanish high-speed rail model.
